Hi there app users, it’s Jack here!
And I just wanted to take the time to explain why there are not more recent activity, or let’s be realistic any activity within this app. As there have been no new articles since December 2019. And there is one very good reason for that.
As it’s just me that runs EVERYTHING associated with the DSNY Newscast name. That includes researching the topics and news, writing the scripts, recording the episodes and most time-consuming of all, editing the videos that are on DSNY Newscast’s YouTube Channel. In addition to that, I also run the Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts, along with the merchandise store and the Patreon as well.
There are many small jobs that constitute these over-arching roles such as social media manager and store operator, like for example I design all the graphics for the merchandise, and handle all of the interactions through messages on social media.
Needless to say, I’m stretched too thin. hahaha
So running this app has taken a backseat for a long time. As I created it with the intention to build a team to operate it. However many news blogs struggle to make income through the small ad revenue they receive from Google AdSense. That’s why you see so many Disney news sites with loads and loads of ads all over the place, trying to make a return. I didn’t want to clutter the app with that, as I felt it diminished the end-product experience.
But the problem is that I don’t feel right asking volunteers to run the app for no renumeration, as other sites sometimes do. So I thought I should do it instead.
However the issue with that is that every moment I spend writing an article here, is time being diverted away from the YouTube channel, which is where the lifeblood of this whole operation is. And many believe that there is huge money in YouTube, but realistically it’s enough to be comfortably self-employed, but not enough to start hiring full-time staff, unless the view count is much, much higher.
So that is the dilemma I’m in. It’s a very complicated problem, and short of asking for volunteers, which requires me to manage the articles being posted, or charging a monthly subscription fee to pay someone else to manage the content. I am stuck between losing time for other parts of DSNY Newscast or not making the app affordable to all.
However, the reason why I continue to push notifications for the videos, is that YouTube doesn’t always send out notifications to the subscribers on YouTube, so I rely on the app to act as a backup.
So in conclusion, I probably need to assemble a team, a team that would be able to take on responsibility and help grow DSNY Newscast to become something more.
If you have had any ideas or suggestions, it would be appreciated.

See ya real soon,
Jack!

May 8, 2020Completely understand, however I would make a suggestion. I know that you don’t want to ask for volunteers to run it for you, but maybe if you found some die hard fans out there who would like a chance to express there own thoughts and options on Disney that this could give them a chance to allow some to start writing for a blog/app, kinda of like a first step. You would be the one who would determine the topics each month and you would solicit articles, review them and determine the ones that you feel are worth to be posted. You can kinda do give away a like you do with the hidden Mickey and based on a persons number of accepted stories the giveaways are more impressive. Just my though

May 10, 2020You could consider using the app to post the script from your You tube videos with perhaps a couple of screen shots to illustrate what is shared.
Love the channel!
