On December 5th, “Rise of the Resistance” will open to guests at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World, and as part of this landmark event, Disney has invited media representatives from all across the world to attend a preview day and also the dedication ceremony that will take place tonight at 6:55 pm EST. But don’t worry, I’ll be at the official opening in the early hours of Thursday morning, to experience Rise of the Resistance for myself and provide a full comprehensive review on YouTube tomorrow, so stay tuned for that.

However, since the international media outlets are “in town”, Disney decided to host a special Imagineering media event that gave a deluge of new concept art for upcoming projects that I’ve covered extensively, but it did not give much in the way of actual new details. As much of the information that accompanied the new artwork was previously revealed at D23 Expo or in past announcements. Although the big piece of new News, is the one headline that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020.

Which by itself, is great to hear that we finally have a specific target date beyond the opening timeframe of Spring 2020. But the opening date alone is not really enough to do an entire video on, hence why I’m writing this article.

Although, we did receive new concept art for the “Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant” that will be opening sometime in 2020 at Toy Story Land. And we also got our first glimpse at what the completed renovation work of the Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue in The American Adventure Pavilion, but no official opening date set, but I’d imagine that at the pace of construction, this will open in the first half of 2020.

Also Disney released this new updated version of the concept art for the entrance Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience, that has a few differences from the unreleased artwork from Destination D 2018, as you will not be able to see beyond the themed Galactic Starcruiser Terminal, which means that the unthemed exterior of the main building will be heavily obscured by tree cover. And we also got official confirmation that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be opening in 2021 as I’ve previously stated on DSNY Newscast.

And then lastly we had concept art for the Mickey Shorts Theatre that will be opening in March 2020, alongside Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, in the old location of the Path of the Jedi theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And we received an inside look at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot, that will be an exact replica of the attraction from Disneyland Paris, that debuted in 2014.

So overall, it was great to get some new concept art and one or two details confirmed, but on the whole Disney fans who followed D23 Expo intently will have already known about much of this. Whereas the intended purpose was to inform some less knowledgable international media outlets on what’s coming to Walt Disney World within the coming year.
