With Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opening on May 31, 2019 at Disneyland and August 29, 2019 in Walt Disney World, the new details about the immersive land are still trickling out.

And today, we have our first look at the “Galactic Datapad” that will be a subsection as part of the Play Disney Parks app experience. With the following features being listed:
- Translate galactic languages—both written and spoken.
- Discover precious cargo and digital goods as you scan objects all around the spaceport—including items hidden inside space-shipping crates and containers.
- Tune into communications sent by the planet’s many residents to uncover stories and secrets throughout the land—and unscramble transmissions being sent from far, far away.
- Use the Play Disney Parks app to hack into the land’s many devices, control panels and droids.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge has been designed by Walt Disney Imagineering to be truly interactive throughout the entire land, from water fountains to hidden cargo, Disney have ensured that just walking around Galaxy’s Edge will be an experience in itself.
However, we are still yet to receive official word on how Disney plan to incorporate the previously mentioned “Galactic Credits” system into the land, but I would hazard to guess that it will be rolled into this “Galactic Datapad” experience.
But overall, this new interactive experience will make Black Spire Outpost feel like a living breathing galactic settlement at the edge of the Galaxy, when it opens this Summer!
