Not only does Captain Marvel save the world, but — this weekend — the now ubiquitous superhero took over the Earth (and Disneyland Resort, for that matter).
“The Brie Larson/Samuel L. Jackson/Reggie the Cat sci-fi adventure opened with $153m in North America this weekend, which is the second-biggest solo superhero non-sequel launch behind Black Panther ($202m in 2018),” wrote Forbes‘ Scott Mendelson. “It’s the third-biggest March opening of all time, sans inflation, behind Batman v Superman ($166m in 2016) and Beauty and the Beast ($174m in 2017).”
But — and here I am burying the lede, big time — Captain Marvel also made a landing at Disney California Adventure:
“Captain Marvel made her first superhero appearance at Disney California Adventure Friday morning, which, not coincidentally, was also the first day her movie is appearing in theaters,” explained OCRegister.com’s Marla Jo Fisher. “She can be found daily at Hangar 12 in Hollywood Land, where she’ll be signing autographs and generally looking pretty sharp. On Friday, her official backdrop wasn’t completed but it was expected to be ready by Monday.
“According to the Disneyland website, she’ll be appearing from 9:25 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for the immediate future.”
The attraction is officially named, “Heroic Encounter: Captain Marvel” and Disneyland.com teased:
