As the 91st Academy Awards and the 2019 awards season came to a close, The Walt Disney Company took home gold as they won several Oscars thanks to Marvel’s Black Panther.

Black Panther was Disney’s big winner, as the film took home three “Oscars,” including “Best Costume Design,” “Best Original Score,” and “Best Production Design.”
However, the highest honor Black Panther received was simply being nominated for “Best Picture.”
That “win” was not just a victory for Disney and Marvel, but all comic book fans as it is the first “superhero film” to be nominated.
The highlight for Mary Poppins Returns fans was Bette Midler’s rendition of “Where the Lost Things Go.”
Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet lost “Best Animated Feature” to friendly competition from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
However, Disney/Pixar did take home “Best Animated Short” for Bao.
But what did you think of the show and it’s list of winners?

March 9, 2019My biggest anger and disappointment of the night was Black Panther winning best original score. If Beale Street Could Talk was beautiful, Black Panther is unmemorable. However, kudos to the Academy for awarding the film the well deserved awards of Costume and Production Design!
