New books and comics continue to drop knowledge bombs on Star Wars fans and Disney addicts readying themselves for the immersive experience that will be “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”
Jim Carchidi of Orlando Business Journal reported:
As The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) prepares to debut their Star Wars theme park experiences in Orlando and California later this year, the entertainment giant is releasing stories that will help bring the lands to life.
The new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land will consist of 14 acres of immersion where guests will live their own adventures in a spaceport called Black Spire Outpost on a planet called Batuu. The attractions will feature state-of-the-art ride technology and ultra-detailed scenery, but the personalities that fans will interact with are equally important. An alien toy maker who will run a shop in Black Spire’s marketplace and Oga Garra, the proprietor of a cantina, were among the first character reveals on Disney’s Parks Blog. This year, new introductions are being made in book form.
A new Marvel comic book series titled “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” will begin in April and showcase an entrepreneur who makes his living in Black Spire Outpost.

On January 31, StarWars.com’s Kristin Baver posted a Q & A with Ethan Sacks, the writer of the upcoming series.
“Some more dangerous to listen to than others.”
But when it comes to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we’re all ears, as Sacks also teased the setting of the comics.
“Our series will give fans the chance to visit Black Spire Outpost months ahead of voyaging to Batuu in person,” said the writer. “Armed with top-secret sketches and information from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, we are keeping this authentic to the spirit of this rich new setting.”
The official Marvel synopsis of the comic series reads:

Carchidi also reminded OBJ readers of the recent book series that placed Hondo Ohnaka squarely in the narrative sights:
Disney already has announced Hondo’s role in the park’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, but the story of how he acquired the starship is told in the book “Pirate’s Price,” which was released earlier this year. And three more books titled “Galaxy’s Edge: A Crash of Fate,” “Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire” and “Star Wars: Myths & Fables” will be released this summer to broaden the list of names and references that could come into play when fans visit the attractions and possibly even in Disney’s upcoming Star Wars hotel.
