Deep discounts might make an earlier trip to WDW make good $ense…
“No way am I going to Disney World before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens! You’re nuts for even suggesting that?”
Maybe. But it might be just as nuts once their 14-acre land opens. Don’t get me wrong: Will SWGE be worth the crowds? Definitely!
However, I’m going and taking a good book with me as I wait in a long line to get in; not to mention the possible wait time inside for the two new attractions.
Again, I’m not saying we should avoid the opening of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.” Heavens no! I believe it will be a must-see for every Disney fan.
However, you might have the ability to save money because of Galaxy’s Edge and simply see the Falcon a little later.
“Wait! What? Galaxy’s Edge opening might save money on a trip to Disney World?”
Yes, but you’ll have to forgo seeing Galaxy’s Edge on this trip.
Now, Don’t worry; “Star Wars Land” will be there for decades to come. But if you are watching your bottom line, you should go before SWGE opens.
Here’s why: Though the Walt Disney Company knows that fandom is anticipating the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon or escape the First Order, they also keep an eye on their own bottom line throughout the year.
Disney CEO Bob Iger recently confirmed that Disneyland’s “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” is opening in June. This means Disneyland will be packed with guests throughout the summer.
The official statement from Disney states that the Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open in the fall or late fall. Insiders such as Jim Hill from the Disney Dish Podcast, however, believes it won’t open until at least December.
This means the Walt Disney World Resort will go 11 months in 2019 anticipating the BIG headliner of the year. Of course, during that time we’ll see “Disney Skyliner” open throughout WDW, “Mickey’s Runaway Railway” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and several new Disney resorts and expansions to resorts…
But do you really think these additions pull guests to visit Disney World? Not as much as Galaxy’s Edge will!
My point is, Disney is going to try to entice people to visit the Walt Disney World Resort throughout the year with savings on resorts and free dining plans.
Currently, Disney has a promotion called Sun & Fun room offer where you can save up to 30% on rooms until September if you book by March 24. Additionally, Disney is offering a free dining package through September if you book a five day/six-night stay by February 10. Not to mention offers for Florida residents.
Not only would you be able to save money on your Disney vacation, but — and this varies depending on your travel dates — you might experience smaller crowds. And, if you’re not necessarily a diehard Star Wars fan, you might also be able to see Disney World’s more recent additions, “Toy Story Land” and “Pandora: The World of Avatar,” with less wait for popular attractions.
You may have already planned your Disney vacation this year so it lined up with Galaxy’s Edge’s opening. If so, I’ll see you there!
However, If you are still playing around with dates, maybe you should skip the Star Wars mania and save time and money!
