Heck, I’ll say it. I LOVE PORGS. Love ’em.
So, when I heard about “Star Wars: Project Porg” in the midst of some of the other Disney media mentions this week, I filed it away for a semi-quiet afternoon.
But, after some thought (and research), and having already looked at the work that ILMxLAB has done — AND then understanding that more Star Wars content will be coming — well; let’s just say I’m as excited as a Wookiee at a (non-porg) barbecue.
The official ILMxLAB announcement stated:
Porgs, porgs, and more porgs! These fluffy creatures first seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi are back again – this time in mixed reality with our latest immersive experiment, Star Wars: Project Porg.
In Project Porg, you will need to gain the trust and affection of your porgs by offering them treats and playing with them. Teach them how to maneuver real-world environments with care instructions from Star Wars’ most meticulous droid, C-3PO.
Some of the new game’s details debuted at this week’s L.E.A.P. conference hosted by Magic Leap.

Back in 2016, Magic Leap announced:
We’re joining forces with Lucasfilm. Forever fans of the force, now partners in magic. Watch now and geek out with us.
Fast forward to 2018, and the collaboration is coming to fruition.
ILMxLAB reported Project Porg will be released for free download on Magic Leap One this December.
