Truth be told, I actually liked “Pizza Planet.”
It was an easy, Toy Story-themed quick-service restaurant for families to sit in the air conditioning – right near “Muppet Vision 3D.”
And I was excited about “PizzeRizzo,” as it was supposed to be a similar spot with fun theming…
However, the last couple of times I was at Walt Disney World with my family, we never actually found the pizza place open. And, from what I read, it hasn’t been a fan favorite when it is actually open for business.
So, what gives?
Well, recently there’s been a lot of rumors floating around that the restaurant is either on its way out or designated for seasonal operation. I’ve seen both online, with a possible demise of October 20 (!) in the ether.
I guess I am ambivalent about the change but am more curious about what could happen in that spot, situated as it is, so close to the entrance of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” (Grand Avenue) and the current home of “Star Tours.”
As far as Star Tours is concerned (and the Star Wars-themed elements that surround the attraction), I have always hoped that somehow the Ewok village set, Jedi Temple, and AT-AT could remain. And, as much of a pipe dream as that might be, one wonders what exactly the removal of PizzeRizzo might mean for its surrounding attractions.
I mean: Why refurbish “Tatooine Traders” just to knock it down in 2019?
So what do you think? Am I dreaming to think that the current Star Wars experiences could remain in Hollywood Studios? Is PizzeRizzo simply going to seasonal operation owing to its location? Or is Hollywood Studios going to see the Grand Avenue district expand to see that building take on new theming?
