Disney is quickly putting together its cast for their live-action/CGI remake of Lady And The Tramp. Justin Theroux and Ashley Jensen joined the cast last week as Tramp and Jackie. Now it’s being reported that legendary actor Sam Elliot has joined the cast.
According to ThatHashtagShow, The Ghost Rider star has signed to voice “Trusty,” a loyal police dog. In the 1955 animated classic Trusty was said to be an old service dog and best friends with Lady and Jock.
Charlie Bean, who directed The Lego Ninjago Movie (which also starred Theroux), is attached to direct. Brigham Taylor, who worked on the studio’s remake of The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin and currently working on The One And Only Ivan, is producing the project, Andrew Bujalski penned the script. Filming is set to begin this September in Savannah, Georgia, and is expected to wrap early 2019.
Disney already has a lot of content in development for the streaming service including live-action remakes of Sword In The Stone, as well as Noelle starring Anna Kendrick, Magic Camp starring Adam Devine, Stargirl, 3 Men And A Baby, Don Quixote, Timmy Failure, The Paper Magician, and Togo.
Lady And The Tramp is expected to debut on Disney’s Streaming Service in the Fall of 2019.
