Given the nature of San Diego Comic-Con, you might be forgiven if you’d think news about a vintage Disney Channel character returning might fly under the radar.
What’s the sitch? It’s San Diego Comic-Con weekend, and that means exciting reveals and announcements for one and all. Disney Channel just made us so, so happy because they revealed a first look at Sadie Stanley as Kim Possible in the upcoming live-action Disney Channel Original Movie about the iconic hero! First, let’s take a look the original animated Kim Possible.
Back in April, newcomer Sadie Stanley, 16, and ABC’s The Goldberg’s Sean Giambrone, 18, were announced as the new stars of the live-action movie:
The animated Kim Possible series began in 2002 and followed tough teen Kim Possible, her loyal sidekick Ron Stoppable, and Ron’s naked mole-rat Rufus as they faced the typical trials and tribulations of high school—oh, and saving the world from villains in their spare time.
Sadie delivers Kim’s confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she’s an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit. Sean is such a magnetic actor; he always finds the right balance of physical comedy and heart. We’re excited for audiences to see Sadie and Sean bring these iconic roles to life.”
Disney Channel PR helped show the progression from animation to live-action:
And apparently shooting wrapped on yesterday!
How did I miss this incredible cast?
Alyson Hannigan as her mom? Are you kidding me? Excellent (and I am getting old). In any case, I am sold, and am going to re-watch the original series as I wait for the film’s debut in 2019. Are you excited? Tell us about your anticipation (or your fond memories of the series) below.
